#bluuurgh i already knew before i made this gif that it wasn’t going to turn out how i wanted because i have so many feelings/opinions about this line and about spike that i just cannot express in a gif so i’m just gonna write this here because i have to
#in my opinion this one line i tried to cut it out summarizes spike’s character so beautifully. spike spends his entire life trying to do this [and he tries so hard to rid himself of all these emotions]- because he doesn’t want to be this person- william- who feels everything and feels it so strongly. almost more intensely than most people. which is why even without a soul he’s so much more human than any of the other vampires. even when spike tries to deny that side of him exists- even when he tries to become a vampire and erase it entirely- he simply cannot be anyone else than this man who will always have too many emotions and be too strongly involved in them
#and this is why i love season 7 spike so much- because after all these years it’s only here that he seems to finally accept himself and instead of trying to fight who he is- he just embrases these emotions and shows them freely and stops pretending this isn’t who he is
